Report: Sudan rights violations could amount to ‘crimes against humanity’

There have been a
documented widespread of systematic and serious abuses against the civilian
population, by the Rapid Support Forces and by other government forces fighting
alongside them. The abuses include killings, torture, widespread looting,
burning of villages, and high levels of sexual violence. That is also including
the mass rapes that have been occurring. During these recent years, the HRW has
been one of the several groups that have been getting quite a bit of attention
for rights violations in Darfur.
Latest reports have
stated that the abuses represent systematic attacks on civilians. These crimes
could amount to being 'crimes against humanity'. A woman, 38, from a small
village near Golo said, "They took our livestock. They beat the men. And
then they rape us...After we were raped some of us ran to the hospital. Even in
the hospital some soldiers came and they raped women."
In my opinion, I believe
that the Sudanese government shouldn’t be killing their civilians. I do agree
that if these serious abuses continue to further more increase, that these
crimes will be ‘crimes against humanity.’ My question is, what/why are they
doing this? What is the purpose? Is there a reason why they feel they should be
doing this to civilians? I feel that the HRW, since they get quite a bit of
attention that they should help not let these abuses amount to worse things.
Where is your reaction/opinion part? I am sure you have something to say about this travesty...
