Migrants arrested as EU ministers discuss refugee plans

Back in June, police began hauling away mostly African migrants from makeshift camps on the Italy-France border as European Union ministers met in Luxembourg to settle out plans to deal with the immigration crisis. Around 100,000 migrants have entered Europe so far this year, with 2,000 left dead or missing during their quest to reach the continent. Italy and Greece have borne the brunt of the surge, with many more expected to arrive from June through to September.
The EU this year agreed to triple funding for sea rescues off the coasts of Italy and Greece. Also, the EU interior ministers disagreed over how the migrants should be split up equitably to ease the load on the two southern nations. Latvian Interior Minister Richards Kozlovskis, whose country currently holds the EU's rotating presidency, said after the meeting that he doesn’t believe there is a common view to whether it should be voluntary or compulsory. A Sudanese migrant under the name of Saddam said, “I know we are black and we come from Africa, but we are still humans.”

I believe that these people should be treated like they are humans not like they are lesser. It’s good that European Union ministers are attempting to settle out the plant to deal with the immigration crisis. I understand how the EU has agreed for the triple funding for sea rescues off the coasts of Italy and Greece. Although, I have to disagree about how the EU ministers disagreed over how the migrants should be split up equitably to ease the load on the two southern nations.

Report: Sudan rights violations could amount to ‘crimes against humanity’

Throughout the past couple days; Sudanese government forces have killed civilians in the Darfur region of Sudan. The Human Rights Watch (HRW) said in a report released on Wednesday that these attacks on the villages could amount to crimes against humanity.

There have been a documented widespread of systematic and serious abuses against the civilian population, by the Rapid Support Forces and by other government forces fighting alongside them. The abuses include killings, torture, widespread looting, burning of villages, and high levels of sexual violence. That is also including the mass rapes that have been occurring. During these recent years, the HRW has been one of the several groups that have been getting quite a bit of attention for rights violations in Darfur.
Latest reports have stated that the abuses represent systematic attacks on civilians. These crimes could amount to being 'crimes against humanity'. A woman, 38, from a small village near Golo said, "They took our livestock. They beat the men. And then they rape us...After we were raped some of us ran to the hospital. Even in the hospital some soldiers came and they raped women."
In my opinion, I believe that the Sudanese government shouldn’t be killing their civilians. I do agree that if these serious abuses continue to further more increase, that these crimes will be ‘crimes against humanity.’ My question is, what/why are they doing this? What is the purpose? Is there a reason why they feel they should be doing this to civilians? I feel that the HRW, since they get quite a bit of attention that they should help not let these abuses amount to worse things.
