Art in Sudan has always been a big thing. The oldest and most consistent art of modern and contemporary Sudanese culture is the art of the tribes. The art of the tribes show great reservation and conservatism. The diversity in Sudanese art is what makes it so unique. The heritage, past and present, is what draws the base on how Sudanese artistic practices are deeply appreciated.
        

My opinion towards Sudanese art is that I find it absolutely astonishing and beautiful. The meanings that are behind some of the murals, and art in general, are just beyond words could ever explain. I love the diversity that is among the Sudanese art culture. I believe that’s why Sudanese contemporary art just shines compared to different African schools of art as unique. I believe that this truly is amazing. Another thing that I love is that, its not just an individual working on art, it is usually a group of people. It is magnificent how people can come together and create such an amazing thing.

Cannibalism, torture and rape in warring South Sudan

Lately in South Sudan, there have been various attacks where civilians have been caught up in the country’s civil war and evidentially were forced to drink the blood or eat the flesh from people of other ethnic groups. Armed groups backing the president and his former rival forced civilians to do as they asked. This event has been recorded as “widespread and systematic atrocities” suffered by people due to their ethnicity and carried so on across the world’s newest country. This was formed after breaking away from Sudan in 2011.

 In my opinion, this is absolutely atrocious. The fact that there were injured civilians attacked in hospitals, entire towns were destroyed, children under the age of 15 being forcibly constricted and women being raped in or abducted from something as holy as a church, is terrible in my opinion. Church is a place where women or anyone who wants/has a relationship with God go to if they desire sanctuary. The crimes that were committed were said to be murder, rape and sexual violence, torture and other inhumane acts. What in a way angered me was that these atrocities were taken out against civilian populations that had no part in the hostilities. I just wonder why and if there was a reason behind what they did.
